New Ohio Concussion Legislation: HB 143
- Purpose: protect youth athletes at risk for concussion
- Requires all youth coaches and referees to complete concussion-related education program
- Mandatory education for parents and student athletes (scholastic based sports)
- Requires coach or official to remove any athlete suspected of sustaining a concussion from play
- Prohibits any athlete from returning to play on the same day after being removed with suspected concussion
- Requires clearance by a physician or licensed healthcare provider prior to RTP
- Goes into effect April 26th, 2013
